Conferences are a great way to support your professional development, meet fellow educators, discover innovative technology and hear about the latest teaching methods. We’ve put together a list of some of the best ones from around the world.

SXSWedu – March, 7 – 10, Austin

SXSWedu is an annual conference organized as a part of the main SXSW Festival and is internationally recognised as the convergence gathering for the creative arts. Now in its 5th year, it is a perfect place to discover and connect with the emerging education startups as well as listen to thought leaders in the field. It is also known for its unique atmosphere and you can be sure to meet lots of innovative educators there!

ASCD – April, 2 – 4, Atlanta

Carol Dweck, Shanna Peeples and Manny Scott – these are some of the names from this year’s ASCD conference keynote speakers’ list. Organised by the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the event will be packed with interactive workshop sessions, insightful speeches and networking opportunities.

EduTECH – May, 30 – June, 1, Brisbane (Australia)

With 8000 visitors, truly impressive list of 230 speakers (Julie Lindsay and Kathy Schrock among others) and 250 exhibitors, this event is yet another must-attend educational conference. It has 8 congresses (i.a. K-12 Leaders Congress and Future Library Congress) and 5 masterclasses going at the same time, so you can be sure to find inspiring sessions and opportunities to grow as an educator. IDEC – June, 6 – 10, Mikkeli (Finland)

Are you looking for a conference focused entirely on the alternative models of teaching? Would you like to know about the global learning revolution, digital natives at school and the latest discoveries in the educational psychology? This annual conference may be a perfect event to start and meet all of the alt-ed leaders, including Sugata Mitra, John Moravec and Pasi Sahlberg. Last year’s event was hosted in Nelson, New Zealand, in 2016 it is coming to Europe.

ISTE – June, 26 – 29, Denver

‘Find your tribe’ is the motto of this annual education conference, which gathers 16000 educators interested in the newest in edteach in one place. With almost 1000 sessions to attend, 500 companies exhibiting their products and multiple unofficial impromptu meetups, your ‘tribe’ can grow and develop at a light-speed pace! CultureTECH – September, TBA, Derry (Northern Ireland)

Focused on innovative and unusual teaching tool, the event is now in its 6th year and it is still growing. Last year’s event included several stages with live events, workshop sessions and Minecraft for Education day. The programme of 2016 conference has not been yet revealved, but we are expecting tons of inspiration and collaboration opportunities. See what happened at the festival in 2014 here:

BETT – January 25-28 2017, London, UK

You may have missed the conference this year, but registrations are now open for the 2017 event. Billed as a ‘a world of education technology’, you’ll have to chance to experiment with all of the latest and greatest innovative tools and resources, as well as learn how to make sure your school is reaching its full potential and meet experts and peers from around the world.
